History

Founded in 1829 by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington, staff and students of all faiths and beliefs are welcomed. King’s College professors were largely involved in Science in the nineteenth century when women were also admitted into the College. The university has grown through merging with other institutions including Chelsea College, Institute of Psychiatry and Queen Elizabeth College. The University of London was established in 1836 with King’s and UCL as its two founding colleges making it the fourth oldest university in England.

In 2004, the university had various celebrations to commemorate its 175th anniversary. Research-led and based in theMoonraker Point (Accommodation) heart of London, today King’s is one of the world’s leading Universities for education and research. The university has also helped many world-changing advances such as the discovery of the structure of DNA, research development of radio, television and mobile phones along with also being the largest centre for the education of healthcare professionals in Europe.

King’s College is located in the United Kingdom’s great capital, London. Positioned right in the city centre in state-Moonraker Point - Student Social Areaof-the-art premises of the Strand campus, King’s College provides students with a perfect central location to explore the exciting hustle and bustle of this magnificent city.

Classrooms and meals take place on the Strand campus, less than a mile from famous landmarks such as Trafalgar Square, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

The accommodation is provided at Moonraker Point, just over a mile away from the main campus, close to Southwark underground station.

Both Bucksmore London and the London Advanced Studies Program’s accommodation is based at the newly refurbished Moonraker Point located only 20 minutes away from campus. Moonraker

Point is part of the university’s student accommodation, and provides Bucksmore students with newly-refurbished and high quality single en-suite bedrooms.

Bucksmore also offers a complimentary airport transfer service to students arriving at Heathrow, Gatwick and LondonKing's College London - Strand Campus City airports.

In addition to the Bucksmore’s residential centre management team and counsellors that provide pastoral care and support to students, there are also friendly and welcoming King’s College staff available 24 hours a day.
