Arts Electives

Bucksmore Arts Choice combines English language tuition with art electives. There are 19 hours of English tuition each week, as well as three afternoon elective sessions totalling 9 hours.

These afternoon electives last for three hours each and are studied alongside local English teenagers. Each week has a different theme, and students must choose one of the following five elective options for each week of their stay.

Film Production

Taught by a professional film production tuition company that provides a qualified tutor, film cameras and editing equipment. The first session of each week will introduce the students to the cameras and then drafting ideas for what the film will be about. The second session will involve the filming and the final session will be finishing off the film and editing it in order for students to be able to watch after they have finished.

Dance

Taught by an experienced tutor the dance electives will focus on a different style of dance each week. Students will prepare, practise and perfect a dance routine during the afternoon sessions before a grand performance at the end of the week. Dance styles in the past have included modern, jazz, ballet and hip-hop. No previous experience is necessary and the tutor will adapt the routine to the ability of the group.

Art

The Art electives are taught by a professional artist. Different expressive mediums include painting, drawing, pottery & wire sculptures.

Photography

Oxford is the ideal location to take a photography elective. All cameras are provided by Bucksmore. The first session will be spent getting used to the cameras and learning about the different features. The other two sessions will be out and about capturing Oxford to create a portfolio of work that will be displayed at the end of the week.

Drama

The drama elective will allow students to bring out their inner thespian. Students will put together a performance based on the weekly theme. They may be performing Shakespeare, an improvisation piece or learning about stage combat, all under the tuition of our experience tutor.
