Direct admission to George Mason University

Undergraduate

  • Do you have a TOEFL score of 80+ or IELTS score of 6.5+? (You will need to show proof of scores for acceptance)
  • Do you have at least a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale?

If you meet all of these criteria, you may apply directly to George Mason University.

Graduate

  • Do you have a TOEFL score of 88 iBT, IELTS score of 6.5, or PTEA score of 59+? (You will need to show proof of scores for acceptance)
  • Have you completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent (GPA requirement varies by program)?
  • Have you taken the GRE/GMAT?

Pathway and Academic English Programs

Undergraduate and Graduate Pathways are ideal for international students who need additional English language and academic preparation before continuing on to a degree program at George Mason University.

Academic English is for students who do not meet the requirements for a Pathway program but want to become confident English speakers before beginning a Pathway program or transferring directly into a degree program at George Mason University.

Cost Estimates

For I-20 purposes, all international students must submit an Affidavit of Support, which is part of the application process. Students must show sufficient funds to cover expenses for one academic year. These numbers are based on estimated costs of attendance and are subject to change.
